FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • HOW DOES YOUR COUNSELING SERVICE COMPLEMENT THE COLLEGE SUPPORT OUR STUDENT IS ALREADY RECEIVING AT SCHOOL?
The support your student receives from school is integral to their college application process. However, school counselors often serve hundreds of students and just during school hours, making it difficult for your student to receive significant individualized attention when they need it most. Supporting your student’s application journey is my primary focus, and I work with a limited number of students to ensure that each one receives meaningful attention and access.
  • DO YOU MEET STUDENTS IN-PERSON OR BY VIDEO CONFERENCE?
Both. I primarily meet students by video conference to accommodate their busy schedules. This way, we can work late at night, especially as application deadlines approach. Students who prefer to meet in-person are welcome at my office in Winnetka, Illinois.
  • HOW DO WE SELECT A QUALIFIED COLLEGE COUNSELOR?
Ask if they are a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), the Higher Education Consultants Association (HECA), or the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). My membership in these professional organizations means I uphold the highest standards in education, ethics, and experience. I am also a Certified Educational Planner (CEP), one of fewer than 300 professionals worldwide who have achieved the highest distinction in educational planning.
  • HOW DO WE KNOW YOU’RE THE BEST FIT FOR OUR STUDENT?
There’s no short or easy answer to this critical question. The best way to find out is for us to have a conversation to learn more about each other. This chat will help us determine if we are a good match.

"[T]he great majority of students who are admitted stand out from the rest because a lot of little things, when added up, tip the scale in their favor.
So what matters in your application? Ultimately, everything matters."
